Case Study: Intoxalock

Intoxalock is a Des Moines, Iowa-based company with approximately 500-1000 employees that prides itself on a strong Iowa work ethic to produce the most reliable alcohol monitoring devices available. In conjunction with researchers at Iowa State University, Consumer Safety Technology, LLC (CST) developed the Intoxalock using alcohol-specific fuel cell technology in 1992. Intoxalock was the first car breathalyzer device in the country to use this cutting-edge technology, which is now an ignition interlock industry standard.

The Problem

Intoxalock has a very intricate process of ingesting data into Zoho CRM. They were aware that it is beneficial to store all sales-related data in one system, but when feeding data extracts into one system, another problem emerged – dealing with inconsistent data due to incoming data sources that had no concept of unification.

One part of the problem was that they needed a very sophisticated deduplication method constrained by multiple conditions, such as being dependent on:

  • CRM modules

  • Customer names

  • Locations

and many more.

The Solution

We sat down with Intoxalock to understand what their general business process was like in this space, and what their team was doing on a daily basis. This was to ensure that they had the right amount of records loaded into the system.

This was then automated using a complex Deluge script to ensure that records imported into Zoho CRM were completely unique.

The Outcome

With the automation in place, the Intoxalock team no longer needed to deal with the large clutter of unnecessary data in their systems, which ultimately benefited in reporting day-to-day operations. Ultimately the solution eliminated unnecessary confusion and questions within the organisation, streamlining and optimising their operations so deduplication of data could happen without the need for manual interference.
