Prairie Restorations, Inc was founded in 1977, becoming one of the first companies in the United States to specialize in restoring native plant communities. With a workforce of approximately 200 employees, they are a full-service company offering both installation and management services as well as multiple retail locations open to the public.
Prairie Restorations is owned by Ron Bowen, an expert on prairie agriculture. As they’ve scaled their sales team to 10+ people, their owner doesn’t have the time to show up to every sales call to make a proposal about what plants should be planted, etc. As such, they needed a system that would automate proposals based on certain criteria as guided by Ron’s initial input.
After consultation with Ron and extensive scoping of the project requirements, we provided a full CPQ built in Zoho Creator that runs from the Deals module in Zoho CRM using product data from Zoho Inventory.
Salesperson pushes “Create Proposal” button in CRM Deal
Salesperson inputs basic info on multiple zones within the site location
Address
Light
Soil
Biome
Zoho Creator scores each of the 400 species based on light, soil, and biome. Finally, it runs a Google Maps API request to query the address against one of 400 different specially-created species maps (i.e. to check whether the owner agrees that the area is conducive to that plant)
Zoho Creator shows the items with score >0 (ranked highest – lowest), as well as:
Price
Current inventory
The salesperson selects the items and quantities they want to go on the estimate, which then creates an Estimate in Zoho Books
With proposals being fully automated, the sales team was able to work independently in handling customer requests. Ron was also able to free up his time to attend to other more critical business matters rather than attending to each individual sales call.
